did anyone read an article in the LIFE section of today's sunday times - titled HAPPY TRAILS? there're many lessons to be learnt from that article.
here are some excerpts:
- happiness is not something you can pursue, but which just happens. And when it does, I want to savour every moment.
- it's been said that everything exists only because its opposite also exits. that there's no light without darkness, no joy without sadness.
- happiness is pretty serious business. for the longest time, man has obsessed over it. Aristotle wrote reams on it. the late Thomas Jefferson even had "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" written into the American Constitution when he was the president. scientists today study the brain trying to qualify the happines while economists crank out complex formulae trying to quantify it. but seriously, is happiness something that can be pursued? can it be qualified and quantified?
it's an great article and it enlightnens me on what is truly meant by being happy. happiness will only strike onto you when u least expect it. happiness is a magical feeling that can never be explained. like the times u lent a helping hand to a complete stranger. i feel that that's the exact and true moments that u're rewarded with happiness.
we cant pursue happiness. so just like the author, i will not spend 2007 seeking for happiness. instead, i'll just accept whatever awaits me. but surely, i'll also relish every single moment of it.
happy 2007! (:
